HMO- Health Maintenance Organization
HMO-Restricts you to using dentists and specialists within the plan's network for coverage. Seeing out-of-network providers is not covered.
PPO- Preferred Providers Organization
PPO plans offer greater flexibility to choose any licensed dentist, in or out of the network, but you'll usually pay less for in-network care. Out-of-network care may be partially covered, but at a higher cost.
How can I tell if I have an HMO or a PPO plan?
Sometimes the type of plan you have could be listed on your insurance cards.
Do not fear if it is not listed on your insurance card, you can always call the number for customer relations on the back of you card and ask.
